Thursday 21st, 2019:

Last Thursday, I attended my first ever fashion presentation in NYC by a newer designer, Nancy Tran. It wasn’t necessarily a fashion show where the models walk down a catwalk. The designer’s pieces were on racks where we could physically touch the clothes while two models walked around in different outfits from the designers Fall 2019 collection. It was a more intimate setting (with wine and cheese – a plus in my book) where I could actually talk to Nancy and ask her about her inspiration for the collection.

The collection was very pretty with a fashionable take on business professional outfits for working women. It wasn’t a collection I could necessarily see myself wearing, but it can definitely amp up a business professional look by bringing a lot of fashion trends to the outfit. Nancy also had her spring collection out for everyone to see and I totally got spring vibes with the bright color palette she used.

What I Wore:

I struggled with what to wear because I’ve never attended a fashion event before. Do I wear heels? Is it more of a fancy event? Is it casual? I had no idea, but I felt like I found a good in between outfit that was casual, but also stylish.

For the more casual part of the look, I wore my custom boyfriend Levis (custom-made by @ShopAliGrace) and a white cropped top from Princess Polly. To make the outfit more stylish and put together, I paired this look with my new favorite snakeskin booties from Ego Official, an Urban Outfitters hat, and a leather jacket. In my opinion, putting a leather jacket over any regular outfit can turn it from basic to stylish in a second.

Overall, it was a nice (first) fashion “show” experience for me to attend. It’s a good starting block for me attending other fashion events in the future. I’ve made it a big goal of mine to eventually to attend NYFW – maybe this year, and if not, definitely next year!
